This week went very well. All the webinars were informative, and helped me apply what I have read to my work.
I am very interested in Stadium and Punctum, this defines what draws the viewer to the image, and I plan to use these elements in my constructions. In additions the semiotics is interesting but will need a lot more study here, but can use a few things, like leaving a foot print in the image, which I did this week with my shadow.
The webinar with Rita Rodner: a recent graduate was very informative. Something she said hit me hard. I paraphrase, “If you are not happy with what you are doing, look harder, don’t accept it.” I realized that I was not happy with my images. They had stagnated and I did not know how to proceed. She showed some of there work, and it made me realize that her FMP was totally abstract, and I could see that it was possible, that she also struggled with her images to almost the last of the last module.
I met her at the F2F a year ago when I was just beginning my MA, I remember her work and was very impressed, she had what it takes. I waned to buy one of her art pieces, but she did not want to sell it to me, she needed it for her review, so it was nice to see her again on the webinar, and my instincts were correct, she is good.
